Photographing one of the most highly-paid actresses of the time, Glinn captures a candid portrait of Elizabeth Taylor, at 27 years old, who was a star from age 12. Elizabeth Taylor, 1959 by Burt Glinn is a classic black and white photograph of Elizabeth Taylor during the filming of the adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Suddenly Last Summer. This is a 10" x 8" gelatin silver RC press print of Elizabeth Taylor with the photographer's blind stamp in margin on recto (front of photo) and annotations on verso (back of photo). Provenance: Glinn Estate *** Artist's Bio: Born 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, photographer Burt Glinn worked for LIFE magazine before joining Magnum photo agency. He photographed personalities throughout the 1950s and 60s, continuing to work commercially and editorially for more than five decades in the US and abroad on assignment, until his death in 2008. The artist photographed revolutionary leader Fidel Castro entrance into Havana, Cuba, celebrity and art luminaries such as Andy Warhol and Helen Frankenthaler. Subject matter included the social scene of the rich, the dirtiness of politics, and the humorous.
