From the series "Danseur"
This artwork is offered by ClampArt, located in New York City.
Amy Elkins writes:
“In 'Danseur' I am fascinated with the art and sport of ballet and contemporary dance, specifically with young men who push past gender stereotypes associated with dance and challenge societal notions of masculinity. These young men are in the pursuit of becoming or already are professional ballet and/or contemporary dancers. These portraits were shot in Copenhagen, Denmark moments after intensive training.”
Amy Elkins is an American photographer known for her intimate portraits, through which she explores the themes of masculinity, vulnerability, and gender identity. Born in 1979 in Venice, California, Elkins received her B.F.A. in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally, including at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson; and the Minneapolis Institute of the Arts, among others.
