This piece is part of Kirsten's current exhibition at Bombay Beach Biennale 2019 where she was doing a three months art residency. The piece is part of Bombay Beach Biennale's permanent collection. Please view attached installation shots.
Kirsten Thys van den Audenaerde, based in Brussels also uses expired Polaroid film for her storylines. She explores the American landscape, the utterly destruction of the American dream and the wonders of the naked body put into forgotten, lost spaces like Bombay Beach or the wide landscapes of the American West. Young women posing for her and the viewer follows their lives with wonder.
About the Instantdreams Gallery:
Stefanie Schneider established the ‘Instantdreams’ gallery as an artist collective in 2016. Instantdreams inaugural exhibition was Stefanie Schneider’s 'instantdreams' show which coincided with the film production of the movie "Instant Dreams" as well as a speech from Florian Kaps, detailing how art, in particular, Stefanie Schneider's artwork was pivotal for him to act and save the last Polaroid factory that was destined for destruction. Instantdreams gallery focuses on art work with a particular color, mood and beauty. Artworks that deal with the sub-conscious, time or a memory theme. A dream like state of magic and nostalgia. Specializing in instant analog photography and the lions share of work coming from international contemporary provocative female artists. Pushing boundaries by working with expired analog film and tackling deep ideas in the most beautiful way possible.
Located on the edge of the beautiful city still free from gentrification in Weissensee. Our large exhibition space reflects the edgy Berlin scene that has become the go to place for artists fleeing London and New York City. Situated in a former factory complex used for weapon research and development of the Third Reich and then the notorious Stasi secret police. Now completely transformed into a Bohemian arena of avant-garde creators.
Our second space is located in Morongo Valley in the High Desert of California.
