About the Item

All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. Gérard Uféras takes us backstage to catch a glimpse of how the magic of high fashion is made. We get to see models changing, final touches on their dresses and the titillating moments before entering the runway. Uféras’ work is an ode to the people who make, perfect, and bring fashion to life. This beautiful black and white fine art print is a closeup of a model's Chest. She is wearing a stiff white blouse with a deep V-neck. Another Person is adjusting the shirt collar, only their hands are visible in the shot. The chaos of clothing racks, models and tailors backstage of a fashion show is visible in the blurry background, creating an intriguing and somewhat abstract image. Daring women, teint de porcelaine and delicate tracings in silver; the French star photographer Gérard Uféras creates masterpieces radiant with a certain je-ne-sais-quoi. Moving the noise of everyday life into the background for a moment, his works are aesthetic oases for the senses. Curving down an exposed back, delineating delicate lines, or an ephemeral smile: Uféras is the connoisseur of fashion and ballet photography. His works are an homage to female elegance, playfulness, and jest. In this captivating black and white photograph, the scene unfolds with young ballet dancers adorned in pristine white tutus. Positioned before a window, soft natural light bathes the space, casting gentle highlights and shadows on their poised figures. The dancers are in the midst of preparation, their graceful postures capturing a serene moment of anticipation before practice. The contrast between the purity of their tutus and the shadows adds a timeless elegance to the composition, emphasizing both the discipline and artistry inherent in ballet. • #19, 1970s Nightclubs of Chicago South Side - Rare Vintage Silver Gelatin Print
    Located in London, GB
A camera is a window through which a photographer interacts with the world, and it's up to the operator to decide whether his camera will be a barrier or a mirror between he and his subjects. In the 1970s, Michael Abramson chose the latter path when he brought his camera to Pepper's Hideout on Chicago's South Side. Following in the footsteps of his acknowledged influence Gyula Halász, a Hungarian photographer better known as Brassaï who became the pre-eminent chronicler of the Paris nightlife he loved so much, Abramson initiated himself into the nightlife of Chicago's predominantly black neighbourhoods. He was very much a part of the scene he documented on film, drinking, laughing, and dancing with his subjects into small hours and becoming as much a part of the atmosphere as the locals who frequented the same nightspots he did. - Joe Tangari (Numero Group, 2009) This series won Abramson a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1978 and launched his career as a photojournalist. Eventually the project resulted in a hardbound book, Light: On the South Side, including the Grammy and Mojo nominated album, featuring Chicago blues...
