This one of a kind photo arrangement on 100% rag paper by Candice CMC measures 39x32" the Framed size is approx. 46x40". Candice creates her donut portraits from her original photographs of donuts. No software program of any kind is used in creating the portrait, Candice goes through the arduous task of looking through her photos to select just the right images with the correct texture, color and highlights that are needed for each area of the portrait. Nowadays, so many people are using programs to create images, it's nice to know that this artist is using her artistic talent to create these intricate realistic portraits. The Photographic arrangements of Candice CMC receive an immediate response on the part of the viewer. We have included in this listing an image of Candice working in the studio and an image of some of the worldwide media attention she has received. The art consists of over 1000 extremely sharp images of donuts, Candice CMC uses the the donuts as her palate, the same as if she was creating the portrait with oil paints. Candice first photographs the donuts and then studies the characteristics of each so that she can arrange them according to their tones, colors, values and intensity to create the iconic portrait. She chooses the correct placement of just the right donut for each area of the artwork. The art was created to appear as a pop art image of hundreds of random donuts. The WOW factor comes when you go to look at the artwork through a camera and see the donuts small and the portrait appears. Collectors are amazed by the very realistic portrait when viewed through their phone and can't understand how it's done. Malcolm Lubliner was in the right place at the right time. The artist had been working and teaching in Southern California for a number of years before he became a full-time photographer in 1968. Entrenched in Los Angeles’s burgeoning art scene, Lubliner was hired as a contract photographer for the publishing workshop Gemini G.E.L. to document its behind-the-scenes activities. He would later become the official photographer for the Art and Technology Program at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), which paired artists with technology companies in the region. Lubliner’s collection of negatives, contact sheets, and prints—newly catalogued as part of the special collections at the Getty Research Institute—showcases some of the 20th century’s most notable artists and demonstrates his insight into their artistic processes. Lubliner photographed the technical and collaborative efforts that went into producing iconic works such as Jasper Johns’s Numerals, Claes Oldenburg’s Giant Ice Bag, and Frank Stella’s Protractor series, while also creating intimate portraits of the individual artists as the driving forces behind them. He captured artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Irwin, Richard Serra, John Altoon, and Sam Francis at work both at Gemini and in their own studios. Also present in many of the photographs are staff members of Gemini, including Kenneth Tyler and Stanley Grinstein. An equally important part of the collection are Lubliner’s photographs of social events that were held by Los Angeles’s prominent art collectors and dealers. Accomplished and rising artists alike mingled and celebrated with the art world’s movers and shakers, such as Leo Castelli, Betty Asher, and Maurice Tuchman, establishing partnerships that would help define their careers. Unique Print only Tichý, practically reinventing photography from scratch, reconstitutes pictorialism along with it, and not as a distortion of the medium but as something like its essence. What counts for him is not only the image - just one moment in the photographic process - but also the chemical activity of the materials, which is never entirely stable or complete, and the delimitation of the results via cropping and framing. Marginal and exceptionally voyeuristic, in his methods Tichý could be described as an “art brut photographer” yet he is also marked by classical influences. Though his images are produced with poor-quality equipment and carelessly shot, they offer an idiosyncratic and almost hallucinatory vision of a fantastical, eroticised reality. With his endless return to the same subject and the volume and regularity of his production, Tichý’s work draws many parallels to certain practices of conceptual art during the same period. – Art, Black and White...
