About the Project:
Facing an overwhelming sense of isolation, depression, fear and confusion photographer Karen Epstein set out to capture what she sees as a dystopian future in the present. Capturing a New York City as it is never seen: almost devoid of people, drained of energy and purpose, sadness lurking in closed business doors and empty museum steps. She placed her subjects in this ominous vacuum to see what the future looks like today.
