Part of a career spanning body of work by the artist, which examined city life amongst the construction and skyscrapers of New York City, Statler's photography presents a visual narrative of a city in the midst of change.
A gritty street photograph showing a construction worker walking down into a building site, presumably where the next New York City skyscraper is under erection. With an urbanist aesthetic, Alfred Statler spent almost his entire career documenting and exploring the city, and his work has both historical and artistic relevancy.
An arenaceous view of the post-war construction boom, that captures the change in the air, almost literally.
