Bright colorful peaches in red, pink, and orange are stacked on top of each other. Artist Ziui Vance paints these fruits against a cool muted background, appearing to float above a plate. "Peaches have a specific mysticism that many people believed to be the elixir of deities — the rich flavor conveying immortality for those who taste from it," states Ziui. The artwork is in a metal frame with tempered glass.
About the Artist
Chinese artist Ziui Vance is a Michigan-based painter who works in both oil and acrylic paint. Through her artwork, Ziui strives to set up the relationship between the viewer and the artwork as one of a guest and host. Her paintings offer the viewer access into her own world of imagination. Growing up in a small secluded town in China, she used art as a means of exploration and escape and developed her practice from a young age. Her abstract work are reminiscent paintings by Mark Rothko, while her figurative work has similarities to Chinese contemporary artists Yue Minjun and Zhang Xiaogang. Ziui has a BA in design from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China and an MFA in art from University of Michigan. She is represented by UGallery.
