Terry DeLapp
Single Purple Iris

About

Acrylic on canvas, 20 x 16 in.; framed A pert purple iris in a slender glass vessel. Terry DeLapp’s works within the confines of classical composition and with a limited palette, using acrylic in the manner of oil paint: glazing, scumbling, and building textures to capture the nuance of landscape through a synthesis of traditional and more contemporary practices. Born in Pasadena in 1934, Terry Delapp studied at the Chouinards Art Academy and UCLA. Widely exhibited since the early 1980’s throughout the United States, DeLapp’s work can be found at the San Diego Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, and in many private collections, including those of Steve Martin, Warren Adelson, Nancy Meyers, Brian Grazer, Martin Short, and Andy Williams.
