Lynette Cook
Singing the Blues / original painting, hyperrealism

2019

$6,000

About

'Singing the Blues' in mainly blue and cream, by one of California’s premier realist painters, Lynette Cook, who captures urban landscapes of San Francisco’s Chinatown and other Bay Area regions. Her images — often gritty scenes that we tend to look past — are painted with harmony, sensitivity, and occasionally even humor. There is poetry and beauty in the stark urbanscapes that contain more than what initially meets the eye. For instance, rhythmic filtered light cascading through iron fire escapes, glimpses of trees reflected in window panes surrounded by brick, awnings, and clothing drying in the city breeze. Cook’s paintings, created between 2016 and 2019, also tell a story of an ever-evolving San Francisco. This important series that was exhibited at California’s Morris Graves Museum in 2016. In the same year the artist was awarded a prestigious Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner Foundation honorary grant. 'Singing the Blues' is wired and ready to hang. Condition new / pristine.
