French Watercolour Ecole de Paris Mid 20th Century Floral Display

1940's

About the Item

Summer Floral Display in a Green Jug by Henri Miloch (1898-1979) signed lower right and dated 1947 watercolour painting on artist's paper, unframed sheet: 12 x 9.5 inches Delightful still life painting by the highly regarded painter, Henri Miloch. Signed and dated to the front. This work forms part of a collection we currently hold by Miloch. Henri Miloch was born in Trieste (Italy) in 1898 but studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was a member of the Society of French Artists. His life and work was very much centred in Brittany, in north west France, much of his work portrays Breton maritime life in the various ports, and local town observations, especially in the Concarneau area where he worked and exhibited for much of his artistic career. From 1959 he also had a workshop in Tours (Val de Loire). condition report: The painting has no tears or creases, image colour is good. Edges of sheet shows sketchier paint use. The backwash used by the artist is a mix of very pale grey's and the edges have some mild toning giving this painting an overall slightly subdued appearance, but completely charming.
