About the Item
Wonderful Early 19th-century Still life of different fruits on an earth bank.
Very much painted in the same way as George William Sartorius painted his still lives this piece has all the skill and quality of one of his paintings.
After researching the work of Sartorius we found that few if any of his attributed paintings were signed. This must have been a decision that the artist made whilst painting each piece.
The use of a well lite peach in the foreground was one of his compositional traits and along with the darker background giving this piece a dramatic feel.
The painting has been framed in an Antique English maple wood frame which would date from the 1830s
