Artist Statement
“ 'At Home in the Garden' is a visual daydream manifesting a peaceful retreat before the viewer. The vivid colors and contrast convey the comfort of summer in the coastal atmosphere, while specks of color relating to the scene float about the composition presenting a dimension of mystery. The techniques used to create this piece are varied and complex. Besides direct plein air application I also used tools to splash, scratch, scumble paint, and even affix pallet scrapings of dry tangled colors in order to create desired textures."
