About the Item

Steve Sangapore’s “Collapse: Of the Environment #2” is a 16 x 12 oil and ink painting inspired by northern Belgium on a wood panel from his Superposition series. The contemporary realist landscape painting in deep blues and greens depicts a Dutch countryside and is paired with a textured ink geometric line drawing. The work is mounted in a gold wood floater frame, 19 x 15 x 2 inches, and is signed bottom right. The Superposition series focuses on modern science, namely Quantum Theory, and questions consciousness and the creation of the universe. Contemporary science through empirical testing informs us that there in an inextricable and dualistic link between an observer and the object being observed. This series explores this duality by splitting the canvas into two halves. On one side, the world as we perceive and in which we interact, and the other a creative line work illustrating the superposition of particles and the non-locality of the quantum world. Steve Sangapore is a graduate of Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT, where he received a B.A. in studio art and graphic design. His interest in science and philosophy has been a driving force behind his latest work. Sangapore has been published in The Boston Globe, Art Business News, Creative Quarterly, Artscope, and E-Squared Magazine. He is based in Boston, MA. Sangapore is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
