Tribute to Rodin 5 by Zhang Hongyu - mixed media, framed

2013

About the Item

Tribute to Rodin 5 (Salut Rodin 5) is a painting by Paris-based Chinese contemporary artist ZHANG Hongyu which represents one of "The Three Shades" by French sculptor Auguste Rodin, in grey, black, white and red tones. Using the pictorial resources of traditional Chinese calligraphy and engraving, the artist captures the strength and energy of this famous bronze sculpture. The series "Tribute to the Masters" reflects both the artist's aesthetic and thematic interests in a somewhat expressionist manner: "in my own painting I like to get out the most direct feelings, the strongest expressions". Indian Ink, pastel, acrylic and etching on cardboard mounted on canvas and stretcher. Sold framed (grey shadow box). Dimensions framed : 146 x 106 x 5 cm
