Frederick Trapp Friis
Nude Study Oil painting

circa 1930

About the Item

This stunning and beautifully executed nude model in the studio was done perhaps while Friis was studying at the Académie Julian in Paris. It is framed in a French Louis style frame that compliments the color palette of the piece. It is an early work and clearly perhaps a work he did in art school. He was already proficient at drawing and here we see his remarkable ability to translate light and backlit form as well. Friis went on to become a highly acclaimed print maker.
