Terry Watts
Established landscape painter Terry Watts, has been a member of the prestigious Royal Society of British Artists since 2006. His fascination with landscapes was first explored through photography, after which he moved towards painting as a means of expression that could better capture the subtleties of color, texture and light.
Watts began his artistic studies at the Camberwell College of Art before moving to the Hammersmith College of Art, both based in London. Having gained a degree in the sciences followed by work in the field of education, he returned to the art world to work on large, sculptural landscape projects for the London Docklands Development Corporation, Merton Borough Council (home of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships) and British Gas. These commissions promoted a full-time move back toward the arts, at which point Watts began exhibiting in solo shows across England and joint shows in the United States, the Netherlands, Scotland and Ireland.
Though traditional in style and elementary in his choice of medium (acrylic paint on paper), Watts’s creations truly capture the starkness and majesty of the Great British countryside. Most notable are the clouds that crown the landscape. Like many esteemed British painters, this uncertain face of nature is of huge inspiration and Watts’s sublime representation of the ever-changing skies has seen him awarded various accolades, including Guest Prize at the Laing Landscape Competition, two first prizes at the London City Airport Competition, the Buzzacott Best Picture award at the Royal Institute and the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition.

- Grey Dawn with Boats - contemporary seaside beach landscape paintingBy Terry WattsLocated in London, GB‘Having first pursued my interest in landscape through photography and urban design, I have turned to landscape painting. This has led me to become a more analytical observer of the many forces operating in the environment and our responses to them. The paintings are unusually wide perspective, precisely rendered, yet also contain freely created elements. I attempt to use composition and light to generate a twenty-first century perception within the continuing tradition of landscape painting.’ Terry...Category

Work Title : "Lagatjar" Artist : Fabien Granet (FR) The work is signed and dated on the back of the work. Unique work. Size : H26xW21cm. With archival Mat, framed in a 30 x 24 cm frame. Born in 1970 the artist lives and works in France. The majority of his drawings and paintings are inspired by the wild landscapes of Brittany in France. " The drawing as a gesture allows me to exploit a (re)mise-en-scene as so many possibilities in the making. Through the quality of drawing as a marker of thought, it is not a question of constructing "dream worlds" but rather of setting up a device that would allow for a conscious dialogue of a certain perception of the real." Fabien Granet is pursuing a research on the perception of the landscape, on our ways of trying to represent it, to understand it, to understand its structures. The drawn "landscapes" are thus as many projections of the artist, which convene and reveal his artistic path, the influences of his culture, his utopias, his dystopian fantasies. Another shift where the quasi scientific concern of objective rigor and the mental construction of an construction of an individual course. The drawing appears in this sense as an act as much as a work which The drawing appears in this sense as an act as much as a work which is registered in a research and a quest to pierce the enigma of the real. In his landscapes, Fabien Granet evokes a process of the mind, where shreds and fragments become entangled in a re-arrangement of of reality. Snippets of architecture and geometrical figures draw human and his gaze into it. The landscape is a human creation, but how does human try to perceive it, how does he understand its constructions? what is his mental image of it? Chaos and structure intersect in a paradox of our vision of the world: the artist picks out the sensitive elements in a reflection on the possibilities in the making.
