About the Item

Moreno PINCAS depicts life. Noisy, agitated. With a critical and tender eye, he sketches existence as if it were a play and each time tells us a new story made up of meetings and lively discussions. He elevates life to the rank of fable. His paintings are full of colorful, alert beings who bustle about within a vast farce. By means of a rich pictorial material in flamboyant colors where reds and greens compete with deep blues, he brings the human being into existence and elevates it to the rank of icon, captured in close-up, anchored to existence by the hassles and the daily hubbub. The artist merges the genres of painting: he is a history, landscape, portrait and still life painter. A naturalist of the human soul that he dissects and examines with his brush. All brought together in one single picture ! Caught up in the whirlwind of life, does man ever have a moment’s respite? If the painter observes his fellow human beings closely, he must withdraw from the world to create in solitude. Concentration is the key to his art. So Moreno Pincas invites us into his cabinet of curiosities. A thousand objects rub shoulders with living beings. Everyone finds their place and the object is as lively as humans and animals. This is the magic of painting... And we listen attentively as the painter tells us a new story of painting... sonorous, vibrant, abundant, like existence itself.

At the center of this oil on canvas painting is the foregrounded portrait of a young man. Over his right shoulder, through some trees, appears the brilliant light of a setting sun. The man's gaze at the viewer has a languid similarity to La Gioconda. It is a laid back presentation punctuated by a brown hat worn back on red hair. The artist emphasizes the clothing texture of the pearl white shirt and the butter cream suit...
