‘The Tay near Stanley’ by James Kinnear (1847-1917).
A large 19th century Scottish oil on canvas depicting three figures on a river ferry on the River Tay in Perthshire. The painting is signed by the artist and hangs in a superb quality newly commissioned, bespoke gold metal leaf frame.
As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it is offered in excellent condition, having just been professionally cleaned, restored and re-varnished. Clients should also note that tracked and signed for international shipping is complimentary.
Edinburgh landscape painter James Kinnear exhibited 7 paintings at the Royal Academy, 18 at the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, 80 at the Royal Scottish Academy as well as at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, the Manchester City Art Gallery and the New Watercolour Society.

Provenance: Sold at Sotheby’s, London February 1990. Thence in private UK collection.
