Charles Ford
Revel Restaurant, Acrylic on Panel

2012

About the Item

Charles Ford's work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York. His "City Paintings" have a very realistic color palette, very true to life. His colors aren't exaggerated and distorted so that they become the subject of the canvas, his imagery becomes the subject, and his true to life color and expert technique capture the viewers attention. He is a master at painting the shadows that are cast by the buildings and object in the scene and you get a real feel of being in New York City at that exact time of day. You look at the scene and then you realize that you see a reflection of the car in front of the window and then you realize that you see a reflection in the window across the street. Then you start exploring the entire painting and marvel at what you are seeing. This painting on Masonite measures 20x20.5x1.5" and was painted in 2012. Mr. Ford passed away in 2016 so there is very limited work by him that is still available.
