About the Item

Dylan Lloyd Island Garden Border VII Original Oil Painting on Canvas Oil Paint on Canvas Framed in a White Box Frame Image size: H 30cm x W 24cm x D 0.5cm Framed Size: H 41cm x W 35.5 x D 4cm Pictured in situ with Island Garden Border V, Island Border VI and Alison Bell’s Best View. Island Garden Border VII is an original oil painting by Dylan Lloyd. The darker colour palette gives the piece a more wintery feel and exaggerates the presence of the delicate white flowers. Dylan Lloyd was born in Gravesend, Kent in 1972 and studied Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art. His studio and garden are located on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. Garden’s have been the major focus for his work for 15 years. His paintings are a documentation of growth, change and development of the direct world around him. Their connection with photography is important; the exaggerated depth of field and pixilated elements of the work are reminiscent of photography and carry associations with the recording of time and history. The seemingly exaggerated photographic surface is balanced with a painterly response that suggest a lasting memory of a place rather than merely direct representation. Dylan’s interest in gardens and plants extend to design, film and photography and he has produced work in response to his own garden as well as other contemporary and traditional gardens across the south of England and northern France.
