Colourful mid century French Expressionist view of a bullfight, oil on paper laid on canvas. Armand Avril (born 1926) was moved to create this painting after his visit to the bullring at Arles. Inspired by Picasso's iconic series on the same theme, Avril's handling of the figures in the audience is reminiscent of the works of Raoul Dufy. A vibrant, colourful work.
Avril's work has been the subject of retrospectives in major galleries and museums and his pieces are represented in museums and collections worldwide.
The work is sold unframed but we have illustrated a possible framing option.
