About
Pair of 19th century English River landscapes with men fishing at sunrise and sunset.
Walter was an English landscape painter from the late 19th-century. He mostly painted bucolic English landscapes, often with wonderful settings suns or by the Riverside.
This is a wonderful pair of classic English landscapes. In one, you see a figure in a punt fishing towards the end of the day. The other example is a similar composition probably at the beginning of the day. On the horizon, you can see a classic Norman Church, and with sheep grazing in a field.
Due to the use of different colors in the sky gives both paintings have a very distinctly different look but yet the cohesive quality in both is obvious.
The unusual thing about this pair of landscapes is that they are painted on Copper. This was a surface that was widely painted on during the 17th and 18th Centuries but not often during the 19 century.
Both paintings are framed in the most amazing handmade guilt Wood frames, they are probably the original frames for the paintings.
Both paintings have been lightly cleaned and re-varnished in the UK and both paintings are in excellent condition.
The paintings came from a private collection of fine art and antiques in the south of England.
They would make a great addition to any collection and would hang easily in any room in a house, or even on small table easels.
Both the paintings are of the finest quality, Williams was a good competent painter who's work was and still is sought-after
