Sunil Das was exactly one such artist. Style : Sunil Das' style of work is very original and shows no specific influence. He had risen to fame like MF Hussain with his famous paintings of horses, to the extent that he was nicknamed 'Ghora Das' (Hindi which means Horse Das). Like Hussain, Sunil Das was inspired by the force and strength of the moving horse. The horses and the bull (inspired from his visit to Spain and witnessing the Bull Fighting) have appeared more than 7000 times in Das’s works. He has otherwise painted haunting pictures of women thereby revealing the dark side of people who are otherwise considered beautiful. His works on the Red Light of Kolkata, was also much lauded and brings about an important social message through his works. Das's main mediums could easily be Oil on Canvas, His Stimulating and Stirring works in Mixed Media, Conte, Charcoal, Serigraphy, Wood Works and Sculptures. Whatever medium he worked on, he effortlessly mastered. Not one to be stuck to one style, Das experimented and worked on various series and mediums. Pradosh Swain - Agreement with Mother-III – 8.2 x 11.5 inches (unframed size) Mixed Media on a INR 100 Court Paper ( used to make a legal agreement ) Inclusive of shipment in a roll form Style : Pradosh’s works can be described as psychic automatism in its pure state. His works are expressive and his palette vibrant and gorgeous. Nature is the frequent imagery that we see in his paintings. Sometimes his imagery is outlandish, perplexing and uncanny as it is meant to shake the viewer and make them to think beyond the theories which they have guarded themselves with. Lot of elements that we see in pradosh’s paintings also come from his childhood days in Odisha. like the cock, kite or the bioscope. As a young boy also he used to enjoy nature study and it became his daily routine to go and sit amongst trees and birds and observe them very closely, which made him gain mastery over water colour medium. Pradosh’s paintings have a surrealistic quality, the imagery is dreamy and mystical and rendering is such as if there is some kind of romance and magic happening amongst the colours in his palette. His paintings are the result of brilliant culminations of feelings and things that are between imagination and reality. They reflect his genuine concern about issues he feels for. He emphasizes on the power of imagination and believes that revelation could be found anywhere….on the streets and in everyday life. Through his paintings artist depicts the notion that how our high pace life is making all of us loose that contact from the nature or even with ourselves. • Modernist Rabbi Judaica Painting on Gold Background
    By Harry Sternberg
    Located in Surfside, FL
A contorted Rabbi looking upward is depicted in a naive, and almost child-like manner. Vibrant colors, and gestural brushstrokes fill the composition, enhancing the flatness of the figure. Harry Sternberg, artist, teacher, and political activist was born in New York City's lower east side in 1904. He was the youngest of eight children born to his mother, a hungarian immigrant, and his father, an immigrant from Russia, . His passion for art came early; by age 12 he had begun saturday art classes at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Sternberg continued to advance his formal art education through 1922, studying at at New York's prestigious Arts Students League alongside Raphael Soyer, Yasuo Kuniyoshi and other notables of the day. His career as a professional artist began in 1928 when he consigned a group of his early prints with the dealer Frederick Keppel in New York. In 1933 he returned to the Art Students League of New York as an instructor, where he taught etching, lithography and composition, continuing to teach there for over 34 years. During the Great Depression he was a WPA artist, and his murals are in post offices in Chicago, Chester and Sellersville, Pennsylvania. Sternberg came to national prominence as a printmaker, painter, and muralist, in the Depression era and during World War II. Sternberg was an acclaimed member of a vital generation of American artists dedicated to exposing social injustices and offering support for an egalitarian society. His interest in the plight of American workers...
