About the Item

"Niña con Moños Rosas" "Little Girl with Pink Knots" Mexico deeply affected his vision and in the fusion with his Philippine heritage, it crystallised into a mature personal style. Mexican artists Rufino Tamayo, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros y Diego Rivera inspired him and affected his use of acrylics and his style. He absorbed and adopted different artistic ideas, like Rufino Tamayo’s. Such is the case of “Niña”, painted on a base of acrylics—a useful medium for the artist, who noted that it was a practical medium in terms of drying and flexibility. At first he prepared his own acrylics but he said that this took too much time away from painting so he chose to use commercial acrylics. This was the same year he had an exhibition in Elms Gallery, Texas. The Nudo Gallery is the only gallery that handles pieces from his private collection and that has his works from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s available. These are the most significant periods in his artistic career. In addition, it issues certified guarantees and has a space completely devoted to the exhibition and sale of the work of the Philippine artist Romeo Tabuena: Showroom Romeo Tabuena by the Nudo Gallery. Romeo Villalva Tabuena (August 22, 1921—October 15, 2015) was a Filipino painter and graphic artista born in the city of Iloilo. He studied architecture at the Institute of Technology of Mapúa and painting at the University of the Philippines. He also studied at the Art Students League of New York and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. Tabuena decided to settle in Mexico, in particular in San Miguel de Allende, from 1955, which became the foundation of his career. But he maintained his ties with his native country by means of his participation in his principal art projects and, in spite of his long residence in Mexico, he kept his Filipino citizenship.
