Fare Thee Well And If Forever is a splendid artwork realized by Mark Kostabi in 1997. Oil on canvas. Hand-signed and dated on the lower left margin: Kostabi 1997. Dimensions: cm 91 x 91. Frame included. Touching and fascinating painting of the Wales Princess Lady Diana, who dramatically died in an auto accident in 1997. This artwork is representative of Mark Kostabi's art and his humanoid forms, faceless and timeless figures which over the years will distinguish him more and more and place him as an artist heir to Andy Warhol and De Chirico. Mark Kostabi (b. 1960) is an American painter and composer. In 1988, he founded the “Kostabi World”, his gallery-study room in New York. His paintings always include references to other artworks and human figures without faces, outside the space-time dimension, reminiscent of De Chirico’s mannequins. Mark Kostabi has more than 160 solo exhibitions set up all over the world; his works are present in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum, Brooklin Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art and at the Groningen museum in the Netherlands. The famous art critic Vittorio Sgarbi says of him: "Kostabi strives to still produce works made through a certain degree of manual skill, such as in the days of Giotto, Raffaello, Guercino, with similarities among the artworks, but never entirely the same. The maximum of modernity thus becomes the maximum of tradition: Even in the era of global serialization and the internet, art maintains a sense when it remains craftsmanship, a practice that is done primarily with the craft of the hands.
