Signed lower left, 'Lavallen', dated 1987 and titled verso 'Mujer Dormida' (Woman Sleeping). A large figural oil painting of a young woman shown reclining on a sofa. Julio Lavallen has specialized in painting large-scale works based on the human form for over forty years. Influenced by the work of Francis Bacon and Gustav Klimt, Lavallen has forged an expressive and personal style in which he fuses dynamic movement and psychological penetration. We are pleased to offer this substantial and eloquent example from the artist's middle period.
