Henriette Gorbitz
"My Home", Cozy Pumpkin House in the Garden Naive/Primitivist Acrylic Painting

2005

About the Item

This artwork entitled "My Home" by Henriette Gorbitz is a beautiful acrylic painting on canvas, stretched over a wooden frame, measuring 50cm x 100cm x 2.5cm. The painting is full of rich colors, mainly featuring blue for the sky, golden yellow for the pumpkin house, green for the plants, and a mix of yellow, purple, and blue for the flowers. The centerpiece of the painting is the pumpkin house located in a field of flowers, with the pumpkin stem acting as the chimney, billowing out smoke to suggest that someone is living inside. Looking through the pumpkin door, the interior space is portrayed as simple and cozy, with a roaring fireplace, a double bed adorned with heart-shaped pillows, and a bookshelf filled with easily accessible books, all rendered in meticulous detail. As the artist hails from a family of craftsmen, it's no surprise that the painting beautifully captures the essence of a warm and inviting home. The theme of the painting is to express the artist's definition of home, a simple and comfortable place built together with loved ones, away from the chaos of the world. The vibrant colors and clever composition, along with the exquisite depiction of objects and space, reflect the artist's love for life and remind the viewer of the allure of a peaceful and simple life away from the bustle of modern city living. Henriette Gorbitz is a naïve/primitive French artist, passionate about Jean Giono. She wishes to transmit the beauty of the nature, but also its fragile yet immutable sides.

Blue Statue, 2020 "For Blackburn, the Western’s heroic drama, good-versus-evil narrative, and assertive landscape are challenges to face in her work. These aspects of film can overwhelm a painting, thus distancing the viewer from the art. She wants the art to be dominant; “Painting wins,” she declares. She finds this happens when a painting possesses what she terms “classical balance.” By this the artist means that everything is where it needs to be compositionally—nothing can be changed—and “the whole can be seen at once.” Linda Blackburn...

  • "Ribbon" Extra-Large Contemporary Landscape Painting By American Martin Hoffman
    By Martin Hoffman
    Located in Frederiksberg C, DK
Introducing "Ribbon," an extraordinary painting from the "Jersey Meadow Series" by Martin Hoffman in the 1970s. From the 1970s onwards, Hoffman's career showcased a masterful combination of beautiful painting techniques and challenging subject matter. This contemporary painting depicts an abandoned landscape with a hypnotic blue plastic ribbon at its center. Hoffman's landscape creates an almost mesmerizing effect, where the subject matter of destruction and decay is presented poetically. The warm shades of grey with hints of blue, brown, and purple create a limited yet powerful palette that enhances the melancholic beauty of the painting. The painting measures 151cm x 202cm / 59.5in x 79.5in and is signed 'Martin Hoffman' on the reverse side of the canvas. It is titled 'Ribbon' and is dated '73.' Additionally, the artist specifies that the painting is part of the 'Jersey Meadow Series.' It is ready to hang and comes with a silver-painted frame. The condition of the painting is great, with hardly any signs of wear. The frame has a few scratches but is otherwise in good condition. Artist Bio: Martin Hoffman was a versatile artist and illustrator, mostly known for his paintings. He was a self-taught painter and a gifted drummer who had worked as an art director for the Miami News, Graphic Arts Inc., and Steiner & Wall Advertising. In 1973, Martin Hoffman landed his first solo exhibition at the OK Harris...
