Fine quality early 19th century portrait of country gentleman, from the Georgian era. Wonderfully decorative for todays interiors.
The canvas was once a larger size but has been relined onto its current canvas and size, presumably by a previous owner to fit a certain frame they had. Out of interest, the painting came from a private collection on the English/ Welsh border, not auction.
Condition report:
The painting is in overall good and sound condition, a few surface scuffs and marks to the canvas surface with associated losses.
