"Indoor Fire, Your Brother's At It Again" (2020) is a large scale figurative abstract painting by Kyle Orlando. It centers around his abstract versions of cheetahs, in various gestural positions, in a variety of colors, in this case, a blue cheetah with white spots and red tongue, prancing on a red and white striped "fancy rug" (as the artist likes to call it) with golden yellow fringes. He added additional motifs into this piece, including his black and white checkerboard square in the upper right hand corner and his signature stars (here in yellow), and intuitive mark making, in this case purple and blue lines, and a black night sky. Kyle enjoys mounting some of his works on unconventional materials, in this case on an exposed wooden frame. He also likes to leave intentionally exposed canvas in his work. His compositional style is very expressive and intuitive, active and lively.
