Portrait Of A Rooster With Adorned Feathers, 18th Century
Circle of John Nost SARTORIUS (1759-1830)
Large 18th century English study of a rooster in a farmyard, oil on canvas. Superb quality and rare study of the first birds of the farm in excellent original condition and unrestored. Most likely by Sartorius who also painted a 1777 fighting cock called ""Dauntless"" belonging to George Wyndham, Earl of Egremont which is distinctly similar in style and composition to this work and this study may be another of the prized birds of the Earls. Framed later with an incorrect plate.
