A pair of partridges and a black and a white hare in a landscape. C. 1700. Oil on canvas in a giltwood frame. Provenance: Private Dorset collection. Angelo Maria Crivelli, known as Crivellone (1672-1730), was born in Milan and was a painter of animals, birds and hunting scenes. According to Orlandi, he was considered to be one of the most accomplished painters of this genre Italy had ever produced. He died in 1730. Literature: Bell.
