About the Item
Stanley Sporny (American 1946 - 2008) A view into a stream with overhanging branches reflected in the water. A beautiful oil painting that explores the stream bottom as well as the branches and sky reflected in the water. Much of Sporny's work is of this genre - looking into streams, ponds, creeks and playing with the what is below and above the water through the distortions the water's movement creates. It is a rich abstraction of blues, greens and brown.
His work is held by The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The National Museum of American Art, AT&T Corporation, among others.
