Richard Schur
"Passenger" Blues and blacks in a colorful geometric squeeze with raw linen

2012

US$4,500

About

German artist Richard Schur exhibits his work widely in Europe and his style of careful color geometric harmonies is singular. These works are timeless and long lasting as their quality holds up in any context. Schur follows the lead of his predecessor Mondrian, honors him and goes in his own direction and is a master at color relationships. This particular small beauty is a great example of the artist's finesse, allowing the unpainted raw linen to act as a color element adding a surprise texture. People often think his paintings are collage, but in fact they are thick in parts, even leaving a shadow, by building up thick color layers into three dimensions. Schur lives and works in Munich Germany.
