Inspired by drawings made by children, Hiltner has created a chaotic narrative of surreal figures and animals drawn in red acrylic across an expanse of raw canvas in this over 6 feet wide painting. A central palm tree in red outline with black leaves divides the pyramidal composition that is completed with select sections painted in with red, turquoise, white and periwinkle. The sky is brushed, bright yellow. Layered over these central marks is a central collaged strip of paper highlighted in ultra marine blue and grey topped by a tache of white paint. This is balanced by a horizontal strip in white and grey at the foot of the composition held down by another white swipe of white acrylic.
