Meighan Morrison is an American artist based in Connecticut.
Meighan is excited by the accident, how it foils the plan, unceremoniously rerouting the vision. And contrast - light and dark, rough versus smooth, bold and delicate. The idea that one cannot exist without the other. Life and death, pain and joy, man and woman. That moment when opposites meet and determine each other. Inside this little place, we can sometimes catch a glimpse of a real-life unearthliness. This is where she hopes to go whenever she sets out to paint. Traditionally schooled in the chiaroscuro method. “Chiaro from the Italian word meaning light and “scuro” meaning dark. She applied this to the figure and portrait, then simplified landscapes eventually arriving at a place of pure abstraction, a further distillation of color, light, movement, and form.
