  • "From Orthodoxy", abstract, bright, vivid, patterns, encaustic, oil painting
    By Mary Amendola Marley
    Located in Boston, MA
Mary Marley's "From Orthodoxy" is an abstract encaustic and oil painting that includes text printed on organza silk. It is painted with bright and vivid colors and includes patterns, gestural abstraction and dripped and spattered paint as an element of design. She is attracted to encaustic for its luminous properties and the endless variations that can be achieved with this multifaceted medium. The use of encaustic allows for layering colors, achieving a glowing surface of depth. Using color and texture inspired from the organic world, Mary's work incorporates patterns and structures all roiling together to an image of impermanence. Mary teaches visual art and her works have been featured throughout the United States and Canada. She is represented by Fountain Street...
