36"x72" oil and graphite on canvas (signed on reverse). This large scale oil painting by Mark Masyga employs a linear abstract composition. Masyga's masterful knowledge and background in color field painting shows a heightened sense and use of color in this painting. The vibrant yellow line work painted over the neutral violet ground is interwoven with blue, brown, black and white line, curls and kinks creating a whimsical feel to this abstract painting by the New York artist, Mark Masyga.
Mark Masyga received his MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago and currently lives and works in New York. The recipient of the Edward F. Albee award, Masyga has participated in residencies in Montauk, New York, Skowhegan, Maine, and was featured in the PS 1 Studio Visit Program. Mark Masyga has exhibited extensively in New York and Nationally.
