Gooooooow, 2017, reverse acrylic on plexiglass with handmade upholster frame, 19 x 22 in. colorful abstract work with linear forms in green, yellow, pink and blue handmade upholstered green frame with yellow and pinks John Maloof (of Vivian Maier fame) is an artist based in Chicago. He creates paintings both in acrylic and reverse acrylic on plexiglass that evoke 1980s aesthetics. Some pieces are made with authentic, vintage 1980s frames. In addition to his own artwork, John Maloof discovered the now famous photographs of Vivian Maier and was the co-director of the Academy Award nominated documentary “Finding Vivian Maier.” Many of these photographs were recently donated to the University of Chicago.
