Large Chinese Contemporary Abstract Colorful Carved Oil Painting Jin Junjie

2018

About the Item

JIn Junjie (born 1989, Hunan, China) Hailed as one of the most promising young abstract artists of his generation. Contemporary Chinese painter Jin Junjie creates three-dimensional canvasses embellished with colorful reliefs and cut outs. Junjie works by carefully layering colors atop one another and waiting for each to dry before applying the next. He then skillfully carves into the surface, creating an assemblage of negative spaces. The result is a mixture of hues and shapes that reflect the artist’s inward journey rather than a mirror of his surroundings. His works bears the influence of Mel Bochner and Sam Francis as seen through a Chinese contemporary lens. “The young artists in China are departing from the older generation of painters concerned with politics and pop art,” Art Lexïng director Lexïng Zhang. Born in Hunan, China, Junjie studied painting at the prestigious Arts Institution of Tianjin. His career has been marked by periods of intermittent production — he has exhibited work at Shandong Art Museum, Guangxi Art Museum, Dong Wu Shi Exhibition Hall, and others. He splits his time between Nanning and Shenzhen. He has had solo and group exhibitions at museums, art fairs, and galleries around China. • California Contemporary Art Marti Somers Figurative Abstract Surrealism Painting
    Located in Surfside, FL
Marti Somers Surrealist dream imagery with fish 24 X 24 inches A California artist, Somers received her BFA at the University of Hawaii. She returned to California and worked as a graphic designer at Stanford University and was a principal at Artefact Design in Palo Alto. But ultimately turned to painting. She opened Studio Believe in San Carlos and co-founded Somersault Studios, a non-profit publishing venture to benefit the arts of Northern California. Somers’ sensibility is both poetic and suggestive. Her scrapbook-like merger of natural images (both painted and collage) and writing, rendered in tactile, fragrant wax-based encaustic paint, is seductive and convincing. Rich compilations of vintage images, words, colors, and textures. Flowers, trees, and leaves share the space in each picture with animals, fragments of patterned paper, layers of thin oil paint over thick, glazes that partially obscure one layer and provide a new layer to work with. Stylized flowers, butterflies and birds appear prominently within Somers’ heavily textured, ‘antiqued’ bands of color and pattern. Robert Rauschenberg meets Odilon Redon in her assemblage juxtapositions of dreamy words and images. She has exhibited her work at Caldwell Snyder...

“The oval paintings give the feeling that somewhere in their essence, invisible to the human eye, there is a light source, which disperses the cleansed and superior light through the reflective whiteness of the wall into the space.” Dr. Nataša Smolič In this oval artwork color is present like the natural reflection of the painted canvas outside the painting surface at the paintings back. So, the source of colour isn′t any electric source. It happens naturally like a reflection on the wall. I′m researching this praenomen more than a two decades. A non-material reflection on the wall appears as a reflection of the painted object. And in daylight it changes all the time. You are kindly invited to see a video of that process on my homepage : video1 and video 2. On the back of the solid wood support panel there is intensive acrylic paint, which is only visible as a reflection of red color on the wall. I used oil paint for the front of the painting. The wooden panel of the picture was hand-shaped at the front into a slightly convex shape. . . . . . In the past tradition of painting, only the frontal parts of paintings were always the carriers of the content. I broke this millennial tradition and focused my attention on applying colour onto the edges and the back of the painting. These parts of my painting compositions are hidden from the viewer's eye and are visible only indirectly – as reflections of the paint reflecting onto the wall area, addressing the viewer with their immaterial presence. This creates coloured light...
