"Seeing," is a Contemporary Abstract Expressionist painting by Helen Bellaver. This work is so delicate and subtle with its layers of texture and color under the overarching cream, black, and whites Bellaver finishes the canvas off with. The composition is dynamic, the viewers eye following the lush black lines, weaving the eye through the colors throughout. The color black is therapeutic for Bellaver, giving her a deep sense of calm and comfort. In this current series of works, she is exploring the use of it by flipping the traditional palette and allowing black to be the center piece of the composition. Bellaver still maintains unity throughout her works with her subtle use of color and creamy white in the background.
