American Artist 1922 – 2012 Served his country as a Sergeant in World War II, both stateside and in the Philippines. After the war, native Chicagoan Ronald Ahlström graduated from the School of the Art Institute, He became a prominent Abstract Expressionist collage assemblage maker working in a style similar to some of the New York school assemblage artists such as Robert Goodnough. Utilizing cutout letters in a concrete poetry style. He frequently exhibited his collages and paintings in the Chicago and Vicinity exhibits of the 1950s and 1960s. He worked as the curator of the Tacoma Art Museum in Tacoma WA during the early 1960s. He showed at Exhibition Momentum in the ’60s, and was selected for the Corcoran Biennial. Together with his colleagues and fellow-abstractionists Robert Nickle, Morris Barazani, Harry Bouras, George Kokines, and George Waite, he exhibited at McCormick Place in an independently produced survey of contemporary Chicagoans, circa 1962, under the banner 12 Chicago Artists. An adept and sensitive painter, Ahlström’s most personal work is as an abstract expressionist collage maker. Using strips of paper, sometimes weathered and beaten into rough hewn surfaces, he creates immaculately layered, lively, gestural compositions. He was the recipient of many art awards and prizes throughout his long career. His works are part of numerous private, corporate and museum collections. His work was published in many national and international art publications including Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Art. he taught art at both high school and college level. His other passions included history, literature and music. He was an accomplished base fiddle and guitar player and often played professionally in clubs during the late 1940s and 1950s. In 1958, he was awarded the William H. Bartels Prize of five hundred dollars at the Art Institute of Chicago. Odysseus - Large Original Minimalist Figurative Oil Painting on Canvas
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Mark Acetelli’s original oil and mixed media paintings awaken the viewer’s sense of exploration and adventure; they demand a new discovery. His artworks exhibit a chemistry of complexity and spontaneity, a lyrical abstraction of frenzied marks, many of which previously lay hidden, buried beneath strong layers of self-taught expression. Those truths, first obscured and then obvious, aim to engage the viewer, allowing them to explore their own interpretation. His figurative abstract artworks are represented by Artplex Gallery in Los Angeles and have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including in London, New York, and Hong Kong. This figurative abstract original oil painting on canvas is 54 inches high by 36 inches wide. It is wired and ready to hang. The sides of the artwork are painted and it does not require framing. It is signed by the artist on the front of the artwork and titled on the back. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and international shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included. Mark Acetelli was born in Detroit into an artistic household. Mark’s mother herself was a painter and some of his earliest memories were the smell of turpentine and oil paints. Growing up surrounded by his mother's work, she inspired and encouraged him to become an artist. Acetelli’s paintings are inspired by the intensely personal introspective journey of life, from the ever-changing complexities of love, loss, birth, and death. The context of his work he describes as, “Absence and Presence” pertaining to how someone or something can be physically gone, but the essence still remains. Capturing the physical mixed with spirituality on canvas. His application of paint is an extension of that thought process. He works by continuously building up and tearing down, layer upon layer, adding and subtracting. A visceral dance between the conscious and the unconscious until the emotion is expressed. Acetelli’s paintings may go through multiple incarnations with the past lying just beneath the surface, adding to its overall dimension and depth. In his work, Acetelli seeks to evoke a feeling rather than depict a defined image. He uses primarily oils and encaustics to create thickly layered canvases with emotive bursts of color. Creating a world where imagination and reality come together. Acetelli’s works can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world, including Bill Withers, Lisa Colburn, Colburn School of Music, Raytheon Corp, Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Michael Jordan, Stuart Beattie, Claire Forlani, Camryn Manheim, and Francine Maisler. Toronto Golden Music
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Guided by her passion for life and her spirit, French Canadian painter Zabel creates vibrant artworks filled with romance and immersive textures. With a belief that art is all about feeling, she creates magic and captures the moment by infusing her art with strong emotive qualities. Zabel communicates each scene with precision. Her work evokes the Impressionists, but depicts modern love and adventure. Couples stand at bar top tables sipping aperitifs. Bartenders and piano players help to break the ice among palm trees and cityscapes presented in vibrant, dripping hues. The energy of social butterflies drawn to one another is palpable as they float effortlessly across the canvas. This 40 inch high by 60 inch wide painting is wired and ready to hang. Zabel used gold leaf and acrylic paint to create this unique artwork. The sides of the artwork are painted and it does not require framing. The artist signs the painting on the back as well as the front lower right corner. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and global shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Using only spatulas, every artwork communicating her story is full of visceral energy. She plays with a strong, vast color palette and creates a unique ambiance in her artworks. Her inspiration never ends; from chic and glamorous lifestyles rendered in gold and silver to neon summer vibes, you can feel the vibrancy of her life’s travels and colorful experiences. For several years, the artworks of Zabel have seduced Quebecois from across provinces, earning her several awards. Zabel’s paintings are now catching the keen eyes of collectors internationally. From New York to Japan, across the USA from California to Miami, and all over Europe, her love story is only beginning. Excerpt from the PACE Gallery Press materials: It is clear that Moix, a true Catalonian, has a rightful claim to the lineage that spawned the extraordinary draughtmanship of his Spanish predecessors- Goya and Picasso. “Part of the pleasure of this project on Quixote by Santi Moix is that it boldly closes the gap between writing and art, between the markmaking of the pen, the stylo, the etching tool, between the fiction of two absolutely distinct means of expression, and proposes instead a true imaginative domain in which unity is everything” – Adrian Dannati, 2008 Measurements: Frame: 22 x 27 x 1.5 inches Print: 19.5 x 25 inches Exhibition History: "Santi Moix: Don Quixote" at PACE prints from September 11 to October 4, 2008. Published by Pace Prints, in collaboration with the Institut Ramon LLull Provenance: PACE Editions, New York, NY This work is elegantly floated and framed in a hand made museum quality wood frame, finished with genuine gold leaf, under UV plexiglass. About Santi Moix: Santi Moix was born in Barcelona in 1960.
