About the Item
"Del Rio The Embrace" by Ceravolo is inspired by Actress Delores Del Rio. The framed canvas measures 40x54".
We have included in this listing images of Ceravolo with some of his celebrity collectors.
In this work Ceravolo has combined his portrait painting of Delores Del Rio with colorful cut out images of 3 dimensional shapes he has created. He then prints this one of a kind unique image on canvas with archival inks.
To create this unique work, Ceravolo first cuts free form shapes out of wood and then paints heavy textures and colors over the cut out shapes before photographing them. Then he determines where he will position the shapes over his portrait of Del Rio to create depth and tension within the work. The final step is to combine them and print this one of a kind work on canvas. The canvas is totally flat but the added shadows to the cutout shapes create a remarkable 3 dimensional depth to the art.
Ceravolo's art came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create 5 large scale paintings of Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Frank Zappa, Neil Young and Hall and Oates for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City. In addition to those, his paintings can be found in many influential corporate and private collections, including: ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M. HEFNER, DAVID BRENNER, MONIQUE VAN VOOREN, WARNER BROS., RCA RECORDS AND SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES to name a few.
