Huntz Liu
If You See Her - Colorful geometric abstract round shape hand cut layered paper

2014

About the Item

Huntz Liu hand carved and layered paper artworks somehow look like colorful archeological digs or exposed complex systems. He works in a subtractive way, where he builds up a surface with stacked colored paper, and then cuts into it to reveal the different colors and surfaces. He uses simple geometric forms that are carefully placed, allowing for the material to be seen and encountered clearly. These carved compositions may be conceived as the skeleton of a structure. Indeed, Liu is interested in revealing the mechanisms and kinetics found within both technological and natural structures: the organic and the mechanic. His work is about exploring the underlying layers (literally and figuratively) of both systems. Huntz Liu layered hand cut paper, 18” x 18”, 2014 frame in white frame

  • Squares 16- abstract bright color red purple dominant ink drawing on paper
    By Dana Piazza
    Located in New York, NY
Dana Piazza's creates abstract colorful drawings, full of the illusion of depth, movement, and three-dimensionality. His highly obsessive ink drawings on paper are built upon algorithms, a set of instructions that details how he will draw each series. Different algorithms and geometric patterns result in multiple drawing series that appear divergent but all of Piazza’s work is focused on explorations of chance, discovery and time. Unintentional changes in the mark are inevitable and create distorted and moving images that almost appear as 3D renderings. Dana Piazza received a BFA Magna Cum Laude from the School of Art+Design at Purchase College in 2010. He lives and works in Massachusetts. Item description Square 16...
