Harry Bright was a British Victorian watercolour artist most widely known for his bird paintings. His works are very attractive, and many have been available as prints. His bird scenes are carefully executed, accurate and very lifelike. attractive. Bright also illustrated various sporting scenes. He exhibited between 1883 and 1911 and lived at Thames Ditton in Surrey. This beautiful original watercolour by Harry Bright shows four white storks at the water’s edge. They have white plumage, tipped with black on the ends of their wings. They have long orangey red legs and beaks. One of the storks is bending forwards, drinking from the river or lake, another stretches out his wings. A fifth stork is in the background, flying away. The bank on which the birds are standing is dotted with tall reeds, silvery green, and there is a tree or shrubbery in the background. The overall palette is attractive, with warm mellow tones of pink and orange, against which the foliage and the birds contrast with their defined and elegant lines. The overall scene is one of refinement and tranquillity.
