A charming pair of 19th century watercolors on pith (rice) paper of exotic fish. With lovely colour and detailing. Each image measures approximately 6.5 x 9.5 inches and are attractively presented with gilded Bamboo style frames. This type of picture was produced for Western traders and travellers to China who wanted to return home with an example of Oriental culture. They were often presented in silk albums so they could be easily transported over long distances.
