About the Item
Lidzie Alvisa Jiménez (Havana in 1969), one of the most recognized conceptual artists in Cuba, studied from the elementary level to the ISA (Superior Institute of Art), graduating in 1994. She uses photography as a means of creative expression, in addition to drawing, sculpture, installations and performance. She has participated in the Biennials of Portugal and Havana and in other high-level Cuban cultural events, La Huella Múltiple;
Habana Auction; Humanitarian Auction, House of the Americas and the Batiscafo Project. She has curated several of her personal shows and has participated in innumerable collective exhibitions. A jury member at the Arts Development Center her works appear in articles, magazines, books and catalogs of contemporary national and international art. They are part of museum and private collections inCuba, The United States, Mexico, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Venezuela, Russia, and the United Kingdom.

Peter Soriano works on relatively large sheets of Japanese paper with a tendency to work from something observed, ideally around him. He tends to be “in” the configuration that is the subject of the work. Soriano is fond of “systems” objects attached to other objects, such as the wiring plan of a room. But very often there are other shapes that play a role in the work. The artist would fold and rework a piece a number of times. Folding seems to concentrate the dialogue that attracts him. Reworking is part of his nature. The finished work normally is the result of this ebb and flow between the heightening and repositioning the relationship between forms.
