A large dramatic impressionist oil painting of sunlit birch trees with a vivid blue sky. Painted by Rudolf Hermanns. Oil on canvas, circa 1920. Unframed. Hermanns was born in 1860 the son of the actress Clara Behrens (1840- ?) and the opera singer Joseph Hermanns (1818-1897). In 1898 he founded a painting school in Hanover. Hermann became known only when the Duke of Cumberland acquired two of his paintings. His works are in the collections of Bomann Museum , Celle, Albert King Museum , Museum August Kestner , Historical Museum at the Hohenufer , and Lower Saxony State Museum of Hannover. Rdolf Hermanns died in 1935.
